Superalloys

Machining of superalloysAND OTHER DIFFICULT-TO-MACHINE ALLOYS

Superalloys are metallic materials that can withstand extremely high temperatures. They are alloys with a complex composition. Because of their properties, they are used, for example, in medical technology and aerospace engineering.

However, what makes superalloys so unique becomes a problem during machining. For example, the low thermal conductivity of the alloys means that heat generated during cutting is hardly dissipated. In addition, the heat development leads to a structural change with further hardening of the material (work hardening). Superalloys are therefore among the most difficult materials to machine. The tools used are subjected to high thermal and mechanical stresses.

This is because these demanding materials require not only suitable tools but also a clearly defined machining process and the necessary know-how.

Thanks to our many years of experience in the field of machining difficult-to-machine materials, we are able to support you in the realization of your components made of materials such as Inconel, cobalt-chrome or Kovar. From dental components and instruments in the millimeter range to milling components up to 300 mm, we can realize your individual ideas and requirements. Contact us - we will be happy to advise you personally on the possibilities!
